Decontamination
Decontamination
Health and safety are always at the forefront
To protect the health of building occupants, it is vital that our team is able to assess all damage and evaluate all contaminated materials. Our crews take every precaution to ensure the safety of all those affected, as well as their own, throughout this process. All building occupants will be advised of any potential risks and receive guidance about entering and navigating the area.
Our restoration specialists examine all possible areas of decontamination, including places that are undetectable to the naked eye, such as HVAC systems. Failure to do so can lead to issues in the future, as contaminants can live and spread in the ductwork.
Once the emergency site is secured and all contaminated materials are removed, a decision can be made regarding the use of biocides as part of the clean-up and restoration process. The use of biocides may or may not be warranted. Biocides can slow microbial growth and aid in sanitizing contaminated materials, but they can also cause eye and respiratory irritation, and may emit a strong and unpleasant odor. Determining the proper application rate can be difficult, but our team is trained and equipped to do so.
What We Do
Safety First
Remove Contamination
Our crews evaluate the site and discard all contaminated materials, then devise a strategy with an emphasis placed on health, safety and the environment.
Microbial Growth
Types of microbe, extent of contamination, environmental conditions and potential risk are all analyzed, sterilized and sanitized by our decontamination team before moving forward.
Regulations
Standard of Excellence
We adhere to the strictest state and federal regulations for mold assessment and remediation, water damage restoration, HVAC restoration, air duct cleaning and carpet cleaning standards. Health and safety is always the top priority, and it is vital that our clients can trust their buildings and properties are properly treated and restored. BlueTeam has also received numerous accreditations and certifications from many of the industry’s leading environmental organizations.
Documentation
Completion & Close-Out Submittals
Our clients receive all necessary compliance documentation at the conclusion of each project including site and containment entry and exit logs; copies of citations and violations, safety meeting attendance records and reports of accidents and first-aid administration; pressure differential records; HEPA-filtered equipment service and maintenance records; and temperature, relative humidity and moisture content data for drying.
Our Process
Inspect
-
Restoration crews arrive as quickly as possible
-
Crews are instructed to avoid contact with contaminated materials and wear proper protective equipment
-
All occupants are briefed for potential risks before entering the area
-
Air handlers are isolated or shut down to prevent the spread of contamination
-
Water damage is analyzed to help determine the level or category of contamination
-
Industrial hygienist documents the results and drafts a report
Diagnose
-
Based on air- and water-testing results, a treatment plan and project scope are established and implemented
-
If the water is found to be in category 2 or 3, environmental health and safety should be addressed
-
Plan includes a decision on whether biocides should be used
-
Determinations are made regarding what materials can be salvaged and which must be replaced during the restoration process
Treat
-
Stop the flow or intrusion of water and remove excess water and contaminants
-
Air-testing results from the industrial hygienist’s report will be used to determine if the damaged area must be treated for microbial growth
-
All porous and contaminated materials are sterilized, and the environment is stabilized with HEPA filtration and air-scrubbers
-
Barriers are constructed to contain any airborne particulate
-
Ingress/egress zipper doors will be installed at all entrances and exits
Document
-
Once the damaged area is fully cleaned and restored to pre-loss condition or better, a client satisfaction approval sign-off will be requested
-
All completion documentation is provided or submitted to the appropriate parties
-
Outstanding claims with insurance adjustors will be settled on the client’s behalf
